How to test a pile using the CHUM for
Crosshole Sonic Logging (CSL)?
-
Prepare the pile with access tubes (usually one tube per 30cm/1' diameter)
-
Wait at least 5 days after casting

Cut and fill the access tubes with fresh water
-
Place depth encoders pullies or the first two tubes
-
Lower the two transceivers (Transmitter and receiver) into the tubes through the depth encoders
-
Start the CHUM software
-
According to the software instructions, pull both transceivers to the top of the tube at a speed of up to 2m/section
-
Inspect the results and continue with the other tube combinations
